Parking and camping can be found anywhere down these dirt roads

Riding at Cherry Creek, near Little Sahara Recreation Area in Utah, offers an unforgettable off-road adventure in one of the state’s most iconic desert landscapes. The area is known for its rolling sand dunes, wide-open spaces, and diverse terrain, making it a favorite for dirt bikers looking for a mix of fast-paced runs and challenging obstacles. Maple Peak

Many riders refer to this area as North Cherry Creek, a vast network of trails surrounding Maple Peak. The area offers miles of diverse terrain, with routes extending all the way to Jericho Ranch, Little Sahara, and Desert Mountain. Maple Peak itself is steep and primarily features challenging single-track trails, while the terrain at the base transitions into sandy washes and open desert. The most technical riding is found at higher elevations, where rocky climbs and narrow paths test your skills.

Jericho Ranch

Jericho Ranch is slowly fading from the spotlight, with its trails becoming harder to follow as time goes on. These routes, remnants of old racecourses from years past, offer a challenging mix of steep hill climbs and rugged washes. As the older generation of riders steps away from the sport, the trails are gradually narrowing and becoming more overgrown. Despite this, Jericho Ranch remains a hidden gem that's well worth exploring for those seeking a blend of history, technical riding, and solitude in Utah’s desert landscape.

Parking:

Option 1: Trails are north and south of road

Option 2: Firebird Pits, trails mostly north but some are south east

Desert Mountain

Desert Mountain was once known for hosting some of the toughest desert loops in the region, earning a reputation for its technical, rocky terrain that demands focus and skill. Unfortunately, much like Jericho Ranch, these trails are slowly fading as the older generation of riders steps away and nature reclaims the landscape. While some fun and challenging trails remain accessible, many of the old routes are now difficult to locate — though traces can still be spotted using old Google Earth imagery. For hard enduro riders, the area remains a prime spot for training, with endless difficult obstacles and rugged routes to conquer. Whenever I ride there, it's all about practicing Erzberg-style techniques, making it an ideal playground for those seeking a serious challenge.
