Unlike the smoother slickrock found on Moab’s iconic trails, the slickrock here is jagged and rough, with sharp edges, steep climbs, and sudden drop-offs that keep riders on their toes. The sandy washes can be particularly tricky, with soft, shifting sand that requires precise throttle control. Riders should plan for a few hours to navigate these demanding yet rewarding trails.
Five Miles of Hell
Five Miles of Hell is a name that couldn’t be more fitting — though for the right rider, it might just feel like Five Miles of Hell Yeah. Make no mistake, this trail is no walk in the park. The sandy washes are brutal, the ledges are tall, and the drop-offs are intimidating. To access Five Miles of Hell, you'll begin on the Red Trail before branching off into the real challenge. And don’t let the name fool you — it’s not actually five miles; it’s closer to eight. For those tackling the full loop, expect to cover roughly 22 miles of intense, technical terrain that demands skill, endurance, and plenty of determination.
VJ Trail
The VJ Trail offers a surprising change of pace from the typical slickrock terrain found in the area, featuring more dirt than you might expect.
